Sometimes you have a special request from the taxi driver. You may be in a rush, or it is hot outside. Even if you’re in a hurry, don’t forget to greet the taxi driver first

Here are a few ways to make special requests when taking a taxi in Germany:

🇩🇪 Ich bin bereits verspätet. Bitte nehmen Sie die schnellste Route.
🇺🇸 I am already late. Please take the fastest route.

🇩🇪 Bitte nehmen Sie nicht die Autobahn. Mir wird schlecht, wenn ich sehe wie schnell die Autos dort fahren.
🇺🇸 Please don’t take the Autobahn. I feel sick when I see how fast the cars drive there.

🇺🇸 The air in the back is very stuffy. Could you open the window, please?

As you might have noticed, it is mandatory to use a child car seat for children under twelve. Make sure you ask for a seat beforehand!

During the drive, it can be interesting to engage in asking simple questions. It is an excellent opportunity to practice  your German, and maybe the taxi driver can recommend you some places worth seeing or a nice local restaurant where they serve delicious food.
